This book contains a suggested repertoire for recorder with songs and dances from various areas of Greece. The choice of music was made based on an as representative as possible presentation of the sounds and rhythms one encounters in traditional Greek music. Moreover, the key strokes recommended for different notes provide solutions to technical problems the reader may face. The anthology of tunes ‘The Art of the Recorder’ is aimed at students of conservatoires and schools, music teachers, professional musicians and music lovers everywhere in the hope that it will prove to be a useful means for approaching traditional Greek music while at the same time enriching the literature on this sweet-sounding instrument.
